Run Ompera on your computer.

Install Ompera Desktop on Linux or Mac. It runs a model on this computer and lets you use it in your apps, on your own or with your pools.

The computer and Ompera app need to stay on while your model is shared.

Install the app

Linux

Download the DEB above, open a terminal in your Downloads folder and run:

sudo apt install ./ompera-provider-latest.deb

Then open Ompera Provider from your applications menu. APT installs the app and its required libraries.

Mac

Open the downloaded DMG and drag Ompera Provider to Applications. Eject the mounted installer, then open Ompera from Applications.

The download is signed and notarized by Apple. On first launch, macOS checks it before opening.

Start sharing

  1. Link this computer

In Workspace → Devices ↗, click Connect a phone to create a one-time code. Enter that code in Ompera Desktop and choose Link this computer.

The app is linked to your Ompera account.
  2. Choose a model and who can use it

Keep Run inside Ompera selected and choose a model that fits your computer. Then share it with you and your pools or everyone on Ompera. You can also connect a local OpenAI-compatible server such as LM Studio or Ollama.

The app shows who can use your model before you start sharing.
  3. Start sharing

Click Start sharing. The first start downloads the selected model and its engine, then checks that the model can answer requests. Wait for Sharing.

Your model appears in Workspace → Models.

Update the app

At the bottom of the window, click Check for updates. When Ompera offers an update, choose Update and restart. The app verifies the signed update before installing it.

Updating stops sharing. Your linked account, settings and downloaded models stay on this computer; start sharing again after Ompera reopens.

Connect LM Studio or Ollama

Select Use my own server in Ompera and enter the address of a running OpenAI-compatible local server. This connection is Unshielded: the server owner can read requests and responses. See Privacy & security.

The model will not start, or your graphics card is missing?

Open About this computer in Ompera to see the detected graphics hardware and driver. A selected driver package is not enough; its driver must be active. Use your operating system's driver settings. For a CPU check, select Processor only in settings.

After stopping sharing, About this computer → Test engine runs a small diagnostic model and releases its memory afterward. For other problems, see troubleshooting or send feedback.

Stop sharing or close the app

Click Stop sharing to stop providing requests. Closing the window also stops sharing and exits Ompera's model engine. Downloaded models stay on disk. A separate LM Studio or Ollama server keeps running independently.

Ompera Desktop is in beta. Availability depends on your computer, drivers and network. Running inside Ompera does not guarantee privacy from someone who controls the computer; see Privacy & security.
